Penetrating injury of the spinal cord.

D Gentleman, M Harrington.

Abstract

We describe 2 cases of penetrating injury of the thoracic spinal cord complicating stab wounds of the chest. Both patients exhibited the Brown-Séquard syndrome, with disturbances of sphincters as well as motor and sensory changes; both developed meningitis. The diagnosis and management of these patients are discussed.
