Abstract
Two children with periodic weakness beginning in infancy were demonstrated to have abnormalities in pyruvate metabolism by the production of lactic acidosis following a glucose load. Daily oral doses of acetazolamide reduced the frequency of attacks and reversed the abnormal response to glucose loading. The mechanism of action of acetazolamide in these patients is not clear.Entities:
