Abstract
An outbreak of babesiosis, with Babesia divergens as the causative agent, occurred in a herd in one of the more recently reclaimed polders involving at least 12 animals. Pasture investigation by blanket-dragging revealed a population of Ixodes ricinus ticks, living in and near the approximately fifteen-year-old afforestation. The differential diagnosis and possible routes by which the disease is introduced, are discussed.Entities:
