Abstract

A new postprocessing program for cerebral computer tomograms is presented, which analyses CT-scans using algorithms of pattern recognition. Thus ventricular areas are identified on the scans, and the ventricular volume is calculated. The accuracy of the system is assessed by comparing the calculated volume with the anatomically measured volume in cadavers. A good correlation exists with a range of error between 0.35 ml and 2.09 ml.
