Problems and prospects for the taxonomy of Penicillium.

A H Onions1, P D Bridge, R R Paterson.

Abstract

Classification of the economically important sections of the genus Penicillium requires clarification as species concepts based primarily on morphology differ. A multidisciplinary study using physiological characters, biochemistry of metabolites, ultrastructure, and traditional morphology has been initiated. The results will be subjected to cluster analysis techniques.
