Effect of the carbamate insecticide Sevin on Anabaena sp. and Westiellopsis prolifica.

Effect of the insecticide Sevin (50% w/v) was examined on survival, growth and nitrogen fixation of two filamentous blue-green algae, Anabaena sp. and Westiellopsis prolifica. Lower concentration of the insecticide (10 micrograms/ml) increased survival, growth and nitrogen fixation while higher concentrations showed an inhibitory effect.
