Abstract
This chapter has stressed the importance of early diagnosis in the treatment of cancer of the ovary with suggestions as to achieving this goal by a more aggressive approach to the accurate diagnosis of pelvic tumours. The combined use of surgery with radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy has also been discussed with the definition of the functions of the surgeon, radiotherapist and chemotherapist. The place of surgery in the staging and initial treatment of this disease is outlined and the indications for surgery for advanced and recurrent disease are demonstrated. The use of the various modalities of ionising radiation has been outlined and the place of chemotherapy and selection of appropriate drugs are also discussed.Entities:
