Medicine without the autopsy.

G D Lundberg.

Abstract

Serious, deep, and long-standing problems now confront use of the autopsy and threaten its very existence at many medical institutions. Despite many changes in the way medicine is practiced, autopsies remain of great importance for purposes of education, justice, and quality of care. Pathologists should create change toward a greatly increased rate of cost-effective autopsies by changing the behavior of other physicians, institutions, and bureaucracies . The goal is the public trust.
