Abstract

An ethanol extract of the roots of Cryptolepis sanguinolenta (Asclepidaceae) afforded, after partitioning and chromatography, the alkaloids quindoline and CSA-3. The structural elucidation of CSA-3 is currently in progress. Cryptolepine was also isolated from this species.
