Scoliosis and kyphosis in dwarfing conditions.

J Eulert.

Abstract

Structural scoliosis and kyphosis are mainly caused by asymmetric ossification of the vertebrae. Dynamic factors influence the development of the deformities. Rotational instabilities, the combined result of asymmetric ossification and dynamic forces, have a particular severe prognosis. Progressing curvatures need adequate treatment. In peculiar cases early fusion is indicated.
