Surface projections and internal structure of Chlamydia psittaci.

G V Stokes.

Abstract

The outermost surface of the small infectious forms of Chlamydia psittaci contain geometrically arranged spikes distributed over approximately 50% of the bacterial surface. The spikes are located opposite the concave side of an electron-dense crescent-shaped chlamydial core.
