Pericardial disease--differential diagnosis and management.

E W Hancock.

Abstract

The multiple manifestations of pericardial disease pose a diagnostic as well as therapeutic challenge. Differentiation from myocardial infarction, determination of etiology, and coping with complications are primary considerations. Management may involve strategies ranging from supportive treatment for self-limited acute pericarditis to complex medical and surgical maneuvers.
