Abstract
Bioprosthetic heart valves are widely used because of their low risk of thromboembolic complications. The major limitation to the long-term success of these prostheses is caused by degenerative processes leading to late primary valve failure, including calcification. Research into these processes has suggested potential approaches for inhibiting calcification and other degradative phenomena.Entities:
