Chemotherapy as an adjuvant to cystectomy and for advanced urothelial cancer.

Because chemotherapy for metastatic transitional cell cancer has resulted in a high percentage of complete and partial responses, it is hoped that further research will lead to improved long-term cure rates in patients with locally invasive disease. This is especially true in those instances in which chemotherapy can be combined as an adjunct to cystectomy and/or radiation therapy.
