Abstract
The expression of K99-plasmid encoded products was examined to assess their influence on phagocytosis and killing by mouse peritoneal cells. Strains of K99-positive Escherichia coli were cultured under varying conditions which either allowed or inhibited the expression of K99-plasmid products. The survival of phagocytosis by the bacteria was found to depend more on the expression of the K99 antigen than the expression of its associated adhesin.Entities:
