Pterygopalatine ganglion cytology in monkeys.

J E Wilson.

Abstract

By the use of dissection and of light and electron microscopy, the normal structure of the pterygopalatine ganglion was studied in cynomolgus and rhesus monkeys. A set of cytological features, namely, small cell size, close packing, peripheral distribution of Nissl bodies, eccentricity of the nucleus and rounded cell shape, was identified which may be unique to monkey pterygopalatine cells.
