Abstract
Interchromosomal gene conversion between alleles has been shown in yeast frequently to be associated with the recombination of flanking genetic markers. Although this also holds true for gene conversion between two alleles of the yeast mating-type (MAT) locus, initiated by the homothallic switching system, we find no evidence that crossing-over ever accompanies gene conversion between the non-allelic HMR and MAT genes when initiated by this same homothallic switching system.Entities:
