Agranulocytosis secondary to pentazocine therapy.

E C Hoppin, B R Greenberg, R M Walter.

Abstract

Agranulocytosis developed in three patients after prolonged oral pentazocine hydrochloride therapy. Two of the patients had a recurrence of their agranulocytosis within three weeks of reinstitution of pentazocine. Culture techniques in one patient indicate a probable metabolic effect.
