Abstract
This article states that it is an error to withhold treatment of mild hypertension until the blood pressure increases or end-organ damage develops. In most hypertensive patients, stepped-care pharmacologic treatment, beginning with diuretics and adding additional agents if necessary, is a proven approach to lowering blood pressure and preventing disease.Entities:
