Abstract
Thymidine-requiring strains of Escherichia coli isolated by trimethoprim selection often simultaneously acquire the ability to suppress bacteriophage T4 nonsense mutations. Suppression is lost in Thy+ revertants and recombinants, but is sometimes retained in thyA plasmid-bearing transformants. Suppression is restricted in Strr derivatives of the Thy- mutants, indicating that suppression occurs at the level of translation.Entities:
