Tycho Brahe: astronomer of Renaissance Denmark.

H C Greisman.

Abstract

As the result of a duel early in the life of this flamboyant scientist, Tycho Brahe lost his nose and soon after began to wear a prosthesis. Although evidence is impressionistic at best, Tycho's case can be seen as an example of how the use of a prosthesis produced significant biographic changes.
