Abstract
This paper comments on the drop in coronary heart disease mortality observed in Switzerland among middle-aged men since the mid-seventies. Several methodological points are made regarding the consistency of this decline (relationships with mortality from other causes), and the reasons for this drop (possible change in population mix). It is suggested that a more complete use of vital statistics is still possible and that this can provide useful clues for the assessment and the interpretation of mortality trends in the field of cardiovascular epidemiology.Entities:
