Abstract
The case of a 44-year-old professional singer is described, who was admitted to the hospital with a severe laryngeal contusion following a sport's accident. After recovering from acute symptoms, he complained of a complete loss of his falsetto voice. At lower pitches, his voice function had returned to normal. Xero-radiography revealed a left unilateral subluxation of the cricothyroid joint. However, intensive voice therapy over 12 months failed to restore the former quality of the falsetto voice. In this patient, the impairment of vocal range could be explained by a disturbance of the tilting mechanism between the cricoid and thyroid cartilages.Entities:
