Abstract
The studies reported in this chapter indicate that the Na/K pump's contribution to Em of human red blood cells with normal cellular Na is no more than 0.1 to 0.2 mV. Estimates based on this magnitude of the electrogenic component and the pump current (taken as one-third the ouabain-sensitive Na efflux) indicate that Rm in these cells is about 1 to 2 X 10(5) ohm cm2.Entities:
