Abstract
Electrophysiological mapping techniques were used to determine the representation of the central field of vision in the superior colliculus of the albino rat. The retinotopic map for the contralateral eye is similar to that found in other mammals. There is an unexpected extensive binocular segment subserving the central 40 degrees of the ipsilateral hemifield as well as the central 40 degrees of the contralateral hemifield in the rostrolateral portion of the tectum.Entities:
