Abstract
Immunoperoxidase methods are currently used as an important adjunct to the histologic diagnosis of neoplasms, particularly when these lesions appear undifferentiated or when their histologic presentation, on routine staining, presents a confusing or difficult diagnostic problem. Immunoperoxidase techniques, as used in this laboratory, have been described in detail. Specific case studies have been provided to illustrate the application of immunocytochemical techniques in the demonstration of diverse tissue antigens in tumor cells, including keratin-type proteins, prostatic specific antigen, calcitonin, chorionic gonadotropin, alpha-fetoprotein, immunoglobulins, Ia-like antigen, Factor VIII antigen, and glial fibrillary acidic protein.Entities:
