Abstract
Chromomycosis is a disfiguring cutaneous mycosis that is often recalcitrant to therapy. We describe a case of chromomycosis of the lower extremities that is being successfully treated with ketoconazole and 5-fluorocytosine (5-FC) after treatment with ketoconazole alone had failed. In vitro studies showed that the drugs acted synergistically against the strain of Fonsecaea pedrosoi which was isolated from the patient's lesion.Entities:
