Routine isolation and cultivation of bovine rotaviruses in cell culture.

Abstract

Using the bovine embryonic kidney cell line, Aubek, bovine rotaviruses were routinely isolated from fecal samples of calves with diarrhea. Of 125 fecal samples positive for rotavirus by immune electron microscopy and the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, 61 isolates were recovered and cultivated continuously.
