The susceptibility of the sandfly, Phlebotomus papatasi Scopoli (Diptera, Psychodidae), to laboratory infection with bluetongue virus. Brief report.

M Jennings.

Abstract

Bluetongue virus multiplied to a low level in Phlebotomus papatasi sandflies after intrathoracic inoculation but not after membrane feeding. It is considered unlikely that this sandfly species is a vector of bluetongue virus.
