Retroperitoneal malignant tumors: Wilms' tumor and neuroblastoma.

P R Exelby.

Abstract

Wilms' tumor is one of the most curable of all childhood cancers, with a five-year survival of approximately 80 per cent. Survival of children with neuroblastoma, on the other hand, is dismal. For both tumors the primary mode of treatment is surgical excision, which should be carried out as an integrated part of multidisciplinary treatment.
