Abstract
Cultures of old, well documented strains of Entamoeba histolytica (NIH:200, HK9 etc.) have been compared with "E. histolytica-like" strains and, in turn, with E. moshkovskii, E. invadens and E. chattoni. They have been grouped according to their isoenzyme patterns. The "E. histolytica-like" organisms give patterns similar to E. moshkovskii and both of these are different from E. histolytica Groups I to IV. E. invadens and E. chattoni have easily distinguished characteristic isoenzyme bands. "E. polecki" is indistinguishable from E. histolytica.Entities:
