Ion transport by dog tracheal epithelium.

Abstract

The dog's tracheal epithelium actively transports Cl towards the lumen and Na towards the serosa. In this review the effects of various drugs on these ion transport processes are described and possible mechanisms for Na and Cl transport are discussed.
