Abstract

The ricefield crab (Oziotelphusa), when exposed to a lethal concentration (LC50/24 h = 39 mg/l) of hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) to study acute toxic effects, revealed a significant (P less than 0.001) decrease in the content of total carbohydrates (TCHO) and glycogen of the hepatopancreas and muscle. No significant changes were observed in TCHO and glycogen levels of the gonad, hypodermis and gill.
