Abstract
A dramatic suppression of hCG, alpha hCG and progesterone release from midgestation, human placentas in vitro was effected when incubated with 1 microgram/ml of an antagonist to GnRH. This inhibition of hormonal release occurred rapidly and was partially restored by the addition of GnRH. Human chorionic somatomammotropin was also suppressed, but only two days following the decline of the other hormones. These data demonstrate that an antagonist to GnRH can rapidly inhibit human placental hormone release.Entities:
