[Treatment of Ewing's sarcoma in children and adolescents: a cooperative study of the German society of pediatric oncology (author's transl)].

H Jürgens.

Abstract

The German Society of Pediatric Oncology designed a cooperative study (CESS 81) to improve the patients outlook with primary Ewing's sarcoma. Patients are randomized whether or not to receive bleomycin in addition to conventional four drug regimen including vincristine, adriamycin, cyclophosphamide and actinomycin D. For local therapy radiotherapy or surgery can be used alternatively. Patients who received radiotherapy for local control, and show measurable shrinking of the primary tumor under chemotherapy, are randomized to receive 4600 rad or 6000 rad for local control. Patients' accrual is expected to be about 100 patients over 3 years.
