Abstract
The Ca2+ ionophore A23187 elicits a transient increase in pancreatic amylase release in vitro, and this is accompanied by a transient decrease in phosphatidyl inositol concentration. Effects of ionophore A23187 and carbachol on amylase release and phosphatidylinisitol breakdown are dependent on medium Ca2+. These results suggest that major secretagogue-induced, pancreatic phospholipid changes follow, rather than precede, changes in Ca2+ in the pancreas.Entities:
