Phosphodiesterase inhibition and theophylline.

Abstract

Purification of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases from human lung tissue and the characteristics of the purified enzymes are briefly summarized. The relation between the capacity of theophylline to inhibit cyclic AMP phosphodiesterase activity and its bronchodilating properties is discussed.
