[Diagnositc value and limitations of the ELISA test applied to hydatidosis].

P Ambroise-Thomas, P T Desgeorges.

Abstract

The authors studies ELISA test for human hydatidosis with 289 sera. They got a positive level at 1.15 O. D. without any cross reaction. ELISA test detected 42 cases of hepatic localisations, 5 of 5 pulmonary hydatidosis and 1 for 4 other localisations. The authors showed a good correlation and complementarity with different serological tests: immuno-fluorescence, indirect hemagglutination. They applied ELISA test to the post-therapeutic controls. No serological peak was detected and for 6 of 13 cases, the serology was negative between 7th and 90th day following the treatment. It is impossible to say that serological negativation means cure.
