[The treatment of inoperable endometrial cancer by means of intracavitary radiotherapy (author's transl)].

H Kucera.

Abstract

Epidemiological data are presented to point out the importance of endometrial cancer and the role of primary irradiation. 650 patients with endometrial cancer, who could not be operated because of local tumor spread or contraindication to surgery were treated by primary irradiation at the Department of Radiotherapy of the 1st University-Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics in Vienna. 312 patients (48%) were alive after five years. Severe proctitis and/or cystitis was seen in 10,8% fistulas in 2% of the treated patients. These results were obtained with conventional intracavitary radium application.
