Blood-borne stem cells are immunologically distinct from those in other hematopoietic tissues.

F C Monette, J B Stockel.

Abstract

The effects of rabbit anti-mouse brain serum on marrow, spleen, and blood CFUs were assessed. The results suggest a clear immunologic distinction between blood vs. other CFUs. It is suggested that this difference may be a consequence of cellular differentiation or aging.
