Abstract

Postmortem examination of various brain regions of cases without known brain pathology showed an age-related decrease in the levels of dopamine in the nigrostriatal system, of norepinephrine in the hippocampus, and of 5-HT in the gyrus cinguli but an increase of 5-HT in the medulla oblongata and of MAO B in several brain regions.
