Abstract
The management of pain in cancer patients requires experience and a therapy-protocol. Analgesics should be given orally and on a fixed schedule. Necessary is a cascade which allows a stepwise escalation. Patients should be treated with mild analgesics first and continuous infusions of narcotics may be used in the final stage of cancer. The combination of analgesic and psychopharmacological agents augments the analgesic effect. Quite often the side effects of analgesic therapy require an individual schedule.Entities:
