Met-enkephalin-like and dynorphin-like immunoreactivities of the basal ganglia of the cat.

M F Chesselet, A M Graybiel.

Abstract

We have carried out a detailed immunohistochemical study of opiate peptide distributions in the cat's basal ganglia using antisera to met-enkephalin and dynorphin 1-17. The findings suggest that within the striatum, pallidum and substantia nigra, these peptides have different distributions and therefore presumably different functional roles.
