[Reposition of neck fractures of the 5th metacarpal bone using Jahss' method].

Y Cavlak.

Abstract

Fractures of the metacarpal neck (fifth metacarpal), also known as boxer's fracture, rank second in frequency among the common fractures of the hand. Such fractures are instable, since the volar cortex is often crushed, which is why the metacarpal head tends towards volar displacement. Jahss's method described in this article, will always lead to a successful repositioning. It is specially adapted to the anatomic peculiarities of the phalangeal joints.
