Simultaneous treatment of hypertension and opiate withdrawal using an alpha 2-adrenergic agonist.

Abstract

This report describes the treatment of a Viet Nam veteran with an α(2)-adrenergic agonist (clonidine) for hypertension which had an additional beneficial effect of allowing withdrawal in ten days from 20 mg of methadone a day with minimal withdrawal symptoms.
