Abstract
Forskolin, a novel receptor-independent adenylate cyclase activator, stimulated renin release from the isolated perfused rat kidney twofold at 10(-7) M and threefold at 10(-6) M. This stimulation was blocked by angiotensin II but not by the beta-adrenoceptor antagonist atenolol. These findings strengthen the concept that an intracellular increase of 3',5'-cyclic AMP by adenylate cyclase activation can induce stimulation of renin release.Entities:
