Abstract
Gas-phase, water-soluble components of cigarette smoke cause delayed fibrin self-assembly and prevent fibrin cross-linking by inactivation of factor XIIIa (plasma transglutaminase). These anticoagulant properties of smoke are demonstrable in plasma, suggesting they play a role in the pathophysiology of smoking.Entities:
