Abstract
Diagnostic criteria and instruments for assessment of depression in children are listed; genetic, biochemical, and psychological factors in the etiology of the disorders are briefly reviewed; and the status of psychopharmacological treatment is stated. The discussion presents a biopsychosocial model for an understanding of the cause and treatment of the condition.Entities:
