Extrarenal effects of furosemide on distribution of salt and water: an indirect mechanism of the drug's action?

Abstract

The relatively scanty literature on the extrarenal effect of furosemide upon the distribution of salt and water in the body is reviewed. The collected data seem to indicate that corticosteroids participate in the natriuretic mechanism of this drug's action.
