Gynecologic and obstetric complications of female circumcision.

F A Aziz.

Abstract

Although female circumcision is a mutilating operation and has been illegal in the Sudan since 1945, it is an old tradition and is still performed on about two thirds of Sudanese women. The three types of female circumcision are described and the gynecologic and obstetric complications experienced by 7505 circumcised women are discussed.
